The eroded granite turns into a coarse sand, filling in the spaces between the boulder tops. It gives the impression of stepping stones into the distant valleys. This backlit composition provides a wonderful visual moment of light and texture. It is easy to become overwhelmed with the magnificent eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, but I wanted to center my attention on elements like this, that comprise the beauty of the Alabama Hills within themselves.
